Liposuction

Cosmetic surgery of the body and limbs

Liposuction is a surgical procedure in which special cannulas are used for permanent removal of adipose tissue and body sculpting. Hydro liposuction and liposculpture are synonymous terms for the procedure, because it comprises the initial instilling of a special solution into the affected area to minimize bleeding and facilitate the removal of fatty layers, followed by the use of a special device employing vibrating cannulas within the fatty tissue in order to break it down. Liposuction is usually performed under general anesthesia, although the removal of isolated fatty layers may be performed under local anesthesia as well. After liposuction the wearing of a special elastic corset for 4 weeks is required to enable skin retraction and its adherence to the new underlying tissue.
