Cryotherapy
Plastic surgery
Cryotherapy is a physical method of treatment primarily with the use of liquid nitrogen, which develops a temperature of -178° C. The liquid nitrogen is applied directly to the lesion; depending on the thickness of the lesion, its nature and location, the treatment lasts from only a few seconds up to one minute. The procedure should be repeated every 7-10 days until a satifying result is reached. The site of treatment first develops a blister, followed by a cryonecrosis, until, finally, epithelization occurs. Indications for cryotherapy are common warts (verruca vulgaris), flat warts (verruca plana), water warts (molluscum contagiosum), soft fibromas, actinic and seborrheic keratoses, condylomata, small hemangiomas, lymphangiomas, keloids, and superficial basaliomas.
