Hair transplantation
Cosmetic surgery of the head and neck
Surgical treatment of baldness involves several separate surgical procedures: scalp reduction and application of local flaps (with resection of the bald part and its substitution by a hairy part of the scalp), as well as hair transplantation procedures. The latter involves the taking of so-called micrografts which contain 1-2 hair follicles, usually from the occipital part of the scalp, and transferring (implanting) them in the bald or thinning part of the scalp.
Hair transplantation is performed under local anesthesia and takes several hours. A correction of marked baldness is only possible by means of a number of surgical procedures.
