Reduction mammoplasty
Cosmetic surgery of the body and limbs
Reduction mammoplasty is a surgical procedure to reduce the volume of glandular and fat tissue of the breasts. The nipples are lifted and fixed in the new position. This procedure is recommended for women with large, heavy, and sagging breasts – not only for aesthetic reasons, but because hypertrophic breasts often cause back and neck pain, a stooping posture, the occurrence of eczema in the inframammary fold, as well as various possible neurological symptoms. There are numerous surgical techniques for breast reduction, differing by the placement of the incisions, i.e., scars, as well as by the amount and location of the removed tissue. Breast reduction surgery is performed under general anesthesia, and the recovery period takes approximately 10 to 14 days. From the first postoperative day on the wearing of a special elastic bra is required for the following 4 weeks. Additionally, treating the scars for a period of 3 to 6 months with a silicone gel is recommended to stimulate their healing.
