Abdominoplasty

Cosmetic surgery of the body and limbs

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove surplus skin and fatty tissue in the lower and middle abdominal area, and, if necessary, perform a transposition of the umbilicus and reconstruction of the anterior abdominal wall muscles. There are numerous abdominoplasty techniques, and the choice of the surgical procedure depends on the local findings, i.e., the amount of loose surplus skin and fatty tissue, skin elasticity, anterior abdominal wall muscle tone, etc. The surgical incision is placed in the area of the lower abdominal fold, above the pubis. Abdominoplasty may be combined with ventral or umbilical hernioplasty. The recovery period lasts approximately 14 days, and the wearing of a special elastic corset for 4 postoperative weeks is recommended.
